Trek II: Everest Base Camp + Island Peak

We arrived in Kathmandu yesterday and have been enjoying the bustle of the big city. This means real coffee, Japanese udon noodles, fish and chips and fine salads. We are making the most of the food as it's back to dal bhat for the next three weeks.

Tomorrow we fly from Kathmandu to Lukla enroute to the mountain village of Chukhung. Once there, we'll be joining an Equator Expeditions course where we'll be attempting Island Peak (6,189m). After the course, we'll make our own way to Everest Base Camp and, weather permitting, get the classic view of Everest from Kala Patthar. View a map of our route.

There may be internet along the way. If not, we'll be in contact on or after the 27th November 2008.
